Hello! My name is Paul Catagnus, and thanks for your interest in Platinum Disc Jockeys. I’d like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself, and how I got into the business.

I became an entertainer in 1982 when my band began to get jobs in bars and nightclubs. I was the band leader and a guitar player, working my way though college and into my professional career. I enjoyed playing music on weekends and working with people. We became a wedding band in the 90’s and enjoyed working with many happy couples. By the later 90’s, more people were turning to DJ’s for their wedding receptions and a close friend of mine who was in the business offered to let me assist him when my band wasn’t busy. I began DJing then in 1996 as an assistant and used my musical experience to guide me. Already experienced with being the band leader, customer liaison, and announcer, becoming a DJ was a natural progression for me as I went out on my own in 1998. I joined Platinum just a few years later in 2000 and have enjoyed a positive relationship with many couples over the years. Fortunately, I have never missed a job as I feel it is my responsibility to make your special day worry-free and a very enjoyable experience for you and all of your guests.

Now that I have been with Platinum DJs since 2000, I find that I truly enjoy the interaction with the newly engaged couples and helping them plan their special day. I get even more satisfaction from seeing the day happen as planned and watching the them and their guests enjoy themselves. Many of the little things that I recommend enhance the event since I can draw on my experience to advise my clients. I average about 45-50 events per year including holiday parties, birthday parties, corporate events. My specialty is in weddings which are the majority of my events. I take it upon my self to work closely with the other vendors such as the facilities staff and management, the photographer, and the videographer. It is important that we communicate well on your special day to make everything happen seamlessly.
